Business Internship Placements sought for CCC Students
Cayuga Community College (CCC) offers Associates Degrees in Business Accounting and Business Administration. This Fall CCC is launching an internship program for students enrolled in these degree programs. The internships will allow students to gain experience in a local business and/or accounting firm.
The new Business Internship program follows a tradition of providing experiential learning for students at CCC and assisting them to make connections with their community. If students decide to enter into the business world after they obtain their AAS, or go on to a four-year school, these internships will help them realize their goals.
Students will be taking the internship as part of a class and will be mentored by a faculty as part of their learning experience. They are required to fulfill at least 100 hours of work experience per semester or 8-10 hours a week and must provide their own transportation. Eligible students will have 30 hours of academic credit and a GPA of 2.5 as well as a recommendation from a faculty member at CCC.
We hope you will consider taking on an intern for a project or task that will provide them with authentic experience in the business setting. Please contact Sheila Myers, Coordinator of Experiential Learning, 315-255-1743 x 2122 or Sheila.myers@cayuga-cc.edu if your company has a spot for a CCC intern this academic coming year.
In May students and faculty from Cayuga Community College Auburn and Fulton Campuses Computer Information Science program met with industry leaders at Lasca’s restaurant to showcase student information technology projects and talk about trends in the industry. A discussion ensued about the need for real-world projects that students can take on as part of their class. Does your business or non-profit have a need for database development, an IT business plan, or inventory of IT needs? The Computer Information Science faculty at CCC is looking for community projects for their students studying in the information technologies.
Students in the Computer Information Sciences classes are eager to take on projects that have a community-focus, help them understand the market, and make connections in the community. Please contact Sheila Myers, Coordinator of Experiential Learning, 315-255-1743 x 2122 or Sheila.Myers@cayuga-cc.edu if you or your organization has a project for the next academic year.
