18th Annual Book Bonanza
One of the largest book sales in the Central New York is held yearly in Auburn, as a benefit for St. Joseph’s School. This year’s Bonanza is being held at Fingerlakes Mall, July 11th from 9AM to 9PM and on Sunday, July 12th from 10AM to 3PM.
Over 80,000 books are donated over the course of the year and sorted at the Fingerlakes Mall, which kindly donates the space to accommodate the sorting. St. Joseph’s students and parents provide the energy and muscle to move through large boxes of books sorting them into 60 categories to be sold in the Mall’s central Food Court. There is also a “Better Books Room” in another area of the Mall.
Paperbacks and children’s books are 50 cents, hardcover books are $1. Better books, DVDs, CDs and video and audio tapes are priced as marked. All day Sunday is $2 bag day- bags are provided. If there are better books remaining, they are $5 per bag.
The sale is a great opportunity to purchase lots of books for the family, for the cost of one new hardcover book at a retail store. If you’re searching for an out-of-print book chances are they you may discover it at this sale. Plus, you’ll be helping support St. Joseph’s School, whose staff, students and parents appreciate the continued interest over 18 years.
