New Campus
Dave Boyle, assistant superintendent of finance, announced that the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority will be presenting BOCES with a check for about $397,000 grant as reimbursement for money spent to build an environmentally friendly and energy efficient building.
BOCES applied for the grant and underwent an evaluation by NYSERDA during which they suggested some energy modifications. NYSERDA approved the grant, and will be presenting BOCES with an enlarged replica check on the first day of school, September 4th.
The official check will be received when the building is certified with the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. The new BOCES campus is 42 percent more energy efficient than standard codes, Boyle said.
