BOCES is Renamed

New Campus
The new Board of Cooperative Educational Services campus has a new name. The BOCES Board of Education voted unanimously to name the new campus Cayuga-Onondaga Regional Education Center.
“I feel that the name fits with all that we offer,” said Kent Brandstetter, president of the board, “and it probably better represents and encompasses the board and the responsibilities we have. We are so much more than technology education and special education. The new name encompasses everything. It gives a balanced perspective on all that we do.”
The naming committee, comprised of BOCES administration, support staff and teachers, selected three names to be submitted to the board. At decision time, board members and administration were in agreement that Regional Education Center was the best name.
“This process involved a lot of thought,” Brandstetter said. “It involved a large group of people who were committed to coming up with an appropriate name.”
