"Auburn Enlitenment" a Family-Friendly Physical and Intellectual Journey
What a better way to reacquaint yourself and your family with your surroundings than during a refreshing walk through our distinguished city! This brochure featuring three sets of historical and walking tours is meant to keep the mind and body in shape.
The project was funded by a grant from Cayuga County Department of Health’s Healthy Communities Capacity Building initiative, with the help of five students from West Middle School, who were participating in Partnership for Results’ 21st Century Community Learning Center’s Extended School Day Program and the Stardust Foundation’s West Middle School LOFTY Leadership Program. The students were led by Extended School Day Program’s Director, Sue Muldoon. The group researched and compiled information and sites that were suitable for families, classes or youth groups. The Downtown Auburn BID also helped pull together past walking guides with added information from the County Historian’s Office.
Different walks, classified as easy or difficult, help people learn while being active. Sixty different historical topics are covered in the brochure, which was design by Coburn Design. You can pick up a pamphlet at the Downtown BID offices, 128 Genesee Street, or the Cayuga County Office of Tourism, 131 Genesee Street, or by calling 315.730-5791.
