Mark the Calendar for this Year’s Founder’s Day Festival on
Saturday, June 12th from 11AM – 10PM
Each year one of Auburn’s noted residents is honored for their accomplishments and contributions to American history. Theodore Case, who developed the technique for perfecting sound-on-film, will be this year’s celebrated Auburnian. Come join the fun for the second annual Founder's Day Celebration in downtown Auburn.
This year, the Founder's Day parade will start at 11AM and run from West Genesee Street, near the Cayuga Museum & Case Research Lab, to William Street circling back towards City Hall. There will be an American film-themed float competition for the parade, giving inspiration to participants looking for ideas.
From Noon - 1PM a public address will be given on the steps of City Hall, with City staff and elected officials, plus a special guest from the Film Foundation.
At Auburn Public Theater, enjoy a play about Theodore Case and his inventions, at 2PM and then again at 4:30PM. The Ted Case Film Festival entries will be shown at Auburn Public Theater from 1 - 5PM. The Cayuga Museum of History & Art and the Case Research Lab Museum will be giving tours on the prior Case Estate from 3 - 6PM.
Ice sculpture demonstrations, will be presented on Exchange Street Mall from 1 - 5PM. In addition, craft and food vendors will offer gifts and lunch options, plus some restaurants will be competing in a local food competition running from 1 - 6PM.
Live music, by regional musicians, will be performed throughout the day from 1 - 6PM on the Downtown Stage. The event will culminate with an evening dance and live music on the Downtown Stage from 7 - 10PM.
