"Good News" from Auburn

When and where exactly is your book signing? Are you there all day on Oct. 4th, or just for a few hours?
I don't have an assigned location yet but, at this point, I do plan on being there from 10AM – 4PM, or until the books sell out. This will be the only signing that will actually happen before the national release of the book.

Do you have other book signings coming up too?
I have been approached about the possibility of more local signings but that has to be coordinated around what my publicists at Simon & Schuster have planned.

Are you doing any talks?
There are plans for me to be doing speaking engagements, but the specific dates and times are still being finalized.

What is the cost of the book?
The book will retail for $24.99 and will be available at all the major book outlets from Amazon.com to Borders, Barnes & Noble, etc.

Are there any local photographs from this area in the book?
All the images in this book are Cayuga and Onondaga counties, with just a couple of exceptions. A follow-up to this book is in the works that will feature images from around the country.

Is this tied into the Rockwell exhibit that the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center is trying to secure?
Yes, in addition to the book, there will be a two-year long national traveling exhibit of the same title. It will feature my work paired with original works by Norman Rockwell.

What was your inspiration for the book?
Norman Rockwell was a man who made it his mission to celebrate the ordinary. His work has always inspired me both personally and professionally, and continues to serve as a reminder that we should all slow down and embrace those simple, amazing moments that happen in our lives each day.

How did you get the book published?
My wife Michele acted as my agent and pitched it to the big publishing houses. We ended up with four offers and decided on Howard Books, a division of Simon & Schuster.

Anything else you want to promote or share?
I think people would find it interesting that we have quotes throughout the book from Americans who either met, worked with, or felt impacted by Norman Rockwell's work. Quotes from Rockwell's sons and grandson appear in the book, as well as quotes from some of his models, the CEO of Hallmark Cards, and a list of celebrities that include Brian Williams, Arnold Palmer, Debbie Reynolds, Regis Philbin, Dr. Phil, Dolly Parton and Ed McMahon, to name a few. My wife Michele actually gathered these quotes.

The September/October issue of the Saturday Evening Post features a four-page spread on the book with images from around Auburn. Here are some additional links people might find interesting about the book and tour:
